Dr. Lloyd S. Lewan Keynote Speaker

Meet Lloyd Lewan A dynamic and articulate speaker, Lloyd Lewan is nationally sought after for his thought provoking presentations focused on leadership, organizations, gender, diversity, ethics, and global issues. Lewan earned his doctorate from Oklahoma State University. In 2003 he received two honorary doctorates: a Doctor of Humane Letters from Chapman University and a Doctor of Laws from the University of Denver College of Law.

Lewan practices what he preaches. His years of experience in the military, with the Semester at Sea program, in the business world, and in his community have all furthered his understanding and contributed to his passion to live out and to communicate what he has learned.

Military A former U.S. Marine Corps officer during the Vietnam era, Lewan learned early the principles he sees as central to this concept called leadership.
Semester At Sea
Eager to lead university students in an international setting, Lewan joined Chapman University in the mid sixties and their unique floating university program, now known as Semester at Sea, sponsored by the Institute for Shipboard Education and academically affiliated with the University of Pittsburgh. For half of his work life he served as chief academic officer and executive dean leading thousands of university students around the world on an ocean liner introducing them to the peoples, cultures, and leaders of our interdependent world. His most recent voyage as executive dean was the fall of 2002. A member of the ISE board of directors for eighteen years, Lewan served seven of these years as board chair. Lewan now holds the honor of chairman of the board and executive dean emeritus. Back to Top

Business
	For many years, he served as chairman of the board of Lewan & Associates, Inc., one of the largest office-technology companies serving Colorado and Wyoming and now a part of Global Imaging, Inc. of Tampa, Florida. Lewan holds a firm belief that leadership and management are distinctly different but are both essential for an organization’s success. As a chief strategist in the company’s growth, Lewan sought the development of both leadership and management in order to secure the success of this now thirty-year plus company. Back to Top

Community
Lloyd Lewan is active with many national and local organizations. He was appointed by Colorado’s governor to four terms on the Women’s Economic Development Council and has served on the Governor’s International Trade Office. He has served with Special Olympics Colorado and Human Services, Inc and is involved at The Children’s Hospital in Denver. He chaired the board of directors for the Zach Foundation, a foundation dedicated to preventing burns and assisting children who have been burned, and is chairman emeritus for Open Door Youth Gang Alternatives, an inner city program focused on providing at-risk youth alternatives to gang recruitment and gang involvement.
